📖 Our Story

Before 2019, India's gaming market was broken. India was a nation that loved playing games but there were no hardcore games available to the masses and most of us were stuck playing hyper-casual games. 2019 was the year that the landscape changed forever. Phones finally got powerful enough and fast mobile internet got cheap enough, to allow games such as PUBG Mobile, Free Fire, etc to break through. And boy, did they break through! 100 million+ MAUs started interacting with these games and that created an explosion in demand for gaming content. Users were hungry and there was a need for a platform that provided a dedicated space for gaming creators and viewers to come together. The Indian gaming community was rooting for something homegrown and Loco arrived as the answer.

During 2020, live streaming became a central part of every user’s life. With lockdown underway, we all witnessed life unfolding on live streaming. Users leveraged live streaming much more than they had ever done before. Furthermore, gaming solidified its slot as a frontline entertainment medium, enthralling users and helping them interact with other users around the world. These games didn't offer the single user experiences like the older h5 titles offered nor were they expensive to play like console titles. Instead these free to play games that are widely being played today, are social spaces, which users explore and where they hang out with each other. These games also offered the right amount of skill and strategy, to be interesting to watch. These games became the most widely accessible part of the metaverse and users flocked to them in record numbers. Loco saw huge growth during this time as we rolled out features that allowed viewers to interact with users in new and unique ways. We nurtured India's gaming community and supported streamers, allowing cutting edge gaming content to come to the fore.

As we travel further into the 2020s, these gaming experiences will only get more diverse and immersive. In 2015, the phone became the mainstay of the user's entertainment experience and 4G paved the way for the streaming video revolution. In that world of weak phones and 4G - everyone watched. In the 2020s, we are entering a world of powerful phones and are on the cusp of the 5G revolution - everyone will play and interact.
